Chapter 31 Summary

Admiral James Sandecker, now Vice President of the United States, enters the NUMA headquarters to personally deal with the situation. In Korea, Dirk and Summer find themselves captive in a luxurious boat, which is moored at Kang's dock. In his house, Kang learns that Dirk and Summer Pitt are on in his boat, and he relates to his assistants that the news has reported that the scientists escaped from the ship. He is very displeased. He plans on personally meeting Dirk and Summer.

Chapter 31 Analysis

Cussler fans will be glad to see the return of Admiral Sandecker, a regular in previous books, who was replaced by Dirk Pitt, Sr. as director of NUMA. Unfortunately, the glad news that the NUMA scientists were saved will probably mean that Dirk Pitt, Jr. and his sister will face an unpleasant death.
