Summary

Chapter 36 starts with a quote from Kiutue as he named Naranpa as his inheritor even though most everyone opposed the appointment. However, Kiutue says he read something in the heavens that others cannot, and greatness comes from strange places.

After being forced to sleep in another part of the tower in the remnants of Tova, Naranpa knows she is now on a bridge right before the Solstice. She worries about Iktan as one of her captors says people are at the Odo landing. Another says they cannot go back as Iktan is causing chaos in the tower and Abah angrily says they have to dump Naranpa’s body in Odo or her plan will not work. Naranpa realizes that framing Carrion Crow for her death would help Golden Eagle take control of the city. So, she starts laughing, asking what Golden Eagle promised...
