Achilles
Achilles is a Greek prince and son of Thetis, the water nymph. Achilles is one of the central characters of the novel, and the protagonist of Home’s The Iliad, which Black Ships before Troy is based on. Achilles is a legendary warrior and known for his impressive battle strength. As a baby, his mother dipped his body into the River Styx by his heel, resulting in his entire body being invulnerable to fatal wounds except his heel, which is extremely vulnerable. For this reason, Thetis does not want Achilles to battle in the Trojan war, but Achilles chooses fame and glory over life.
