Chapters 3-5 Summary
Chapter 3:
Chapter 3 begins with Mitch in his apartment. He, unlike Rosalind Harper, does not have a green thumb. Mitch thinks about the greenery on the Harper estate. It pales in comparison to seeing the Harper Bride for the first time.
"He'd seen some of the gardens on her estate this past June. But even their graceful beauty had paled next to his encounter with the Harper Bride. He'd always believed in the spirit of a person. Why else would he be so drawn to histories, to genealogies, to all those roots and branches of family trees? He believed that spirit could, and did, have influence and impact for generations, potentially centuries" (Chap. 3, p. 27).
Although Mitch had always believed in spirits, he did not believe that they could physically manifest until he saw the Harper Bride.
