Summary
Moses started seeing a healer, Ngampika, chosen by his neighbor and who required payment only if you were cured. He would visit him several times a day, forgetting he had already been there. He drank wine with Ngampika who insisted wine had not caused his condition. Ngampika misunderstood his diagnosis, believing it to be Kwashiorkor and not Korsakoff’s. The healer talked to six masks hanging on his walls, telling Moses that he needed their help in order to recover. He would talk to the spirits and give Moses various animal excretions to take. Moses would eat lunch with Ngampika prior to his sessions. When Moses gets diarrhea, Ngampika told him it meant he was getting better.
