Summary

In Chapter 24, Nyka recounts the story of when Ipundulu turned him into a vampire. Nyka and Nsaka found an abandoned hut, and when they entered, Ipundulu, Adze, and Ekolo attacked them. Ipundulu spared their lives but changed Nyka into a lightning vampire like Ipundulu. Nyka is now cursed to feed on human flesh and blood, but he says that he still finds the act horrific. Nyka forces other people to kill victims and bring them to him. Tracker tells Nyka of how Sasabonsam stole the boy. Nyka agrees to help Tracker find Sasabonsam, but Nyka believes that Sasabonsam will kill Tracker. Nyka leads Tracker to the edge of a region called the Blood Swamp.
