Summary
In Chapter 5, Tracker, Leopard, and Kava return to Sangoma’s hut after killing Asanbosam. To their shock, they see that Sangoma and the children have all been killed with spears, and Sangoma’s hut has been set on fire. They follow the scent of the killers back to the Ku village, and Tracker realizes that his uncle killed them, as he viewed the mingi children as a collective curse that needed to be exterminated. Tracker kills his uncle and brings his head to the chief of the Gangatom tribe. Tracker and Leopard develop a mutual attraction to one another and soon share a romantic and sexual relationship. However, they then part ways. They reunite years later, and Leopard says that he needs Tracker to help him find someone.
