Summary

In “Black. Nerd. Problems.,” by Lamar Giles, first-person narrator Shawn, and his friends DeMarcus and Amir were getting ready for the soft opening of a new bar and gaming business inside the mall where they all work. DeMarcus made fun of Shawn because he was wearing a t-shirt with Chewbacca on it. DeMarcus reminded Shawn that girls would be at the party, including the girl from Nordstrom that Shawn liked.

When the group arrived at the new store, they were welcomed by Mr. Benton, the owner. Inside, Cameron from the cologne kiosk was sitting next to Dayshia Banks, the girl Shawn liked.
