One of the primary themes of Black Dog of Fate is the debate concerning the legitimacy of the Armenian Genocide. Whereas Armenians and much of the rest of the world privately acknowledge the genocide, Turkey, Syria, and several other nations refuse to publicly admit any involvement in the crime, or even that the genocide occurred.
