Summary

On the streets of Sarajevo, men with black stockings over their heads put up barricades to separate parts of the city, but the city dwellers remove them. There is a break in at Zora’s mother’s flat. There are two men and their mother, and their mother says that the new rule is that abandoned flats are up for grabs because so many people are fleeing the city. There are rumors of impending violence. The woman says she will not leave until she sees Zora’s mother in person and can verify that she is still alive. The police cannot help Zora because abandoned flats are available to whomever needs them.
