Ziva
Ziva is the main protagonist and the perspective the narrator follows throughout the novel. Unlike her calm and thoughtful brother Pesah, Ziva is extremely hot-headed, quick to judge, and cares little for how other people think of her. At the same time, she has excellent observational skills and refuses to let injustices go if she knows they are happening. However, she also suffers from any innate biases, as shown by her initial distrust of Almas even after he saves their lives. Over the course of their adventure, Ziva realizes her mistakes and pushes herself to be better in the future.
However, Ziva also struggles from crippling insecurities, especially when thinking about Pesah’s impending death. By the end of the novel, Ziva convinces herself that Pesah’s potential is far higher than hers, and is even willing to sacrifice herself for him because she believes he will change...
