Summary
In Chapter 14, Bitter was furious over Mr. Nelson's death. She felt he "deserved so much more" (207). Aloe dragged her away, assuring her they would "come back for him" (207).
In the park, the angels surrounded Theron, "his hands bound behind his back, his mouth gagged" (210). Vengeance spoke, riling the crowd. He insisted that "All monsters must die," and killed Theron (211). The crowd fell silent. Bitter felt sick. She blamed herself for starting this mess (213). Then she overheard Hibiscus and Ube talking. Even Hibiscus was disturbed by Theron's murder. Miss Virtue interrupted, insisting they leave before things "got ugly" (216).
Everyone returned to the safe house. Bitter, Blessing, and Alex talked about what happened.
The angels and the hunters brought the mayor to the atrium. Vengeance arrived. Everyone wanted to stop it from killing the mayor, too. Then Miss Virtue appeared, insisting she would handle Vengeance...
