Summary

In Chapter 5, a week later, Bitter waited in her room for Aloe and Eddie to arrive. Aloe had insisted on “mediating a conversation” between Bitter and Eddie (60). Though they had not been dating for long, Bitter could not “remember a time when Aloe wasn’t there” (60). He was a peacemaker yet “wasn’t afraid to argue with Bitter” (60). Because of the way Aloe saw the world, Bitter had “told him the truth about her and Eddie” (61). When she revealed that they had “hooked up” and that she had ghosted Eddie, Aloe was not judgmental (61). He wanted her to get along with Eddie because she was his friend.
