Summary

The novel opens in Gaven's point of view. He has a nightmare about three mysterious figures that the readers will later discover to be his mother, who abandoned him at a young age; Inigo, his former partner; and Roselyn, his childhood friend he left behind. Ultimately, Gaven resolves to face the pain of his past and take on the responsibility of eliminating the organization that haunts him, the Blessed. He is determined to protect his people and bring an end to the threat alone if necessary.
