In earlier chapters Anne documents the importance of publication, and the perceived approval, fame and fortune that accompanies it, as the main motivation for students to write. While publishing is important, Anne spends the greatest part of the book providing reasons and methods demonstrating the power and reward of telling a story truthfully.
