Summary
In Chapter 10, Ryan McMichaels, the police detective investigating Drue’s death, made Daphne feel as if she were a suspect even though he would not say that it had been determined if the death were intentional or accidental. Daphne’s fear that she was a suspect was made worse when she saw that Darshi had sent her a message with the emoji of knife telling Daphne that if Drue had messed things up, Darshi would kill her. Daphne had quickly erased that message though she knew the police would be able to recover it if they wanted.
After Daphne told McMichaels what she had done the evening before she found Drue dead, he showed her a sheaf of papers. Daphne identified what she was looking at as a “pitch deck” (181) an attempt by Drue and Stuart to get people to sponsor their wedding...
