Summary
In Chapter 4, when Daphne had started attending Lathrop School in the sixth grade, Drue was the student she noticed. Daphne had been so impressed when Drue asked her to sit beside her in class that she gave Drue five dollars when Drue claimed at lunch that she did not have any money. Darshini “Darshi” Shah warned Daphne that Drue was a “bitch” (64) and that she did not really need money. Darshi invited Daphne to sit with her as they watched Drue flounce away.
When Drue learned that Daphne’s father packed her lunches, she told Daphne she was lucky because she did not think her father knew where their kitchen was.
