Summary

Chapter 73

Jane and Tom continue to spend time with one another, something that makes Madeline happy. Tom is pulled away to discuss drinks, leaving Miss Barnes to talk with Jane. Miss Barnes tells her how the parents have been harassing her about the bullying and showing up at random times to watch her class. She mentions how hard it can be as a teacher because she feels like she always has to be on guard because she’s expected to act a certain way, whether or not she’s on the job. Jane assures her that she’s doing fine, and ends up getting pulled away by Celeste, saying that they need to talk.
