Summary

Chapter 52

In the present, one of the parents note that the day of the assembly the school was divided into sides, either Renata’s or Madeline’s. At the assembly, Madeline has to sit near Bonnie. Bonnie tries to be civil, but Madeline feels like she’s speaking to an outsider. Bonnie remarks how Abigail wants to become a social worker, but Madeline argues against that because she’s not tough enough. Bonnie invites Madeline and her family to their house next week for Abigail’s 15th birthday party, which hurts Madeline.
