Summary

Chapter 49

The chapter opens five nights before the trivia night. Jane is volunteering at school when she overhears two parents talking about her. One of them is holding the petition. Jane decides to confront the parents, telling them that Ziggy would never hurt anyone. In that moment, she decides that Ziggy is his own man and wasn’t tainted by hers or anyone else’s genes. She goes outside and talks to Miss Barnes, who is still supportive of Ziggy. She’s upset when she hears the petition is still going around and children aren’t being allowed to play with Ziggy. She tells Jane that she has a teacher’s aide specifically for keeping an eye on the children.
