Summary

Chapter 40

In the present, the interviewees are talking about a petition that Harper started on Renata’s behalf. It clearly had something to do with the bullying problem. The chapter then jumps to one week before the trivia night. Madeline is hosting her first book club. She feels a little guilty because she’s only hosting it to distract herself from her grief over Abigail. One of the parents, Samantha, arrives early. She talks about a petition going around the school to get Ziggy suspended. The school seems divided on whether or not they want to sign it. Chloe comes in and asks if they’re talking about the petition. She says that one of the kids told Ziggy they couldn’t play together anymore because he was a bully.
