Summary

Chapter 31

Jane tells Madeline about how she meant Saxon when she was 19. She had just broken up with her boyfriend and felt heartbroken. Saxon was a successful businessman who was flirting with Jane. She decided that having a one night stand would be part of her break up recovery. When they got to his room, he started to choke her and get very rough. He said cruel things to her and made her feel miserable, insulting all of her choices, her intelligence, her dress, and even her breath. She quickly left and felt like Saxon saw her as nothing more than a joke.

Chapter 32

Jane continues to talk to Madeline about what happened. She explains how she used to be overweight and ever since that incident she’s worried about her appearance. Madeline insists that she’s beautiful, but that just upsets Jane...
