Summary

Chapter 28

Madeline is packing up Abigail’s clothing. She’s still hurt that Abigail is leaving, but trying not to show it. Ed wonders if it was his fault because he was very authoritative with Abigail. Madeline thinks it might have been a little bit his fault, but she doesn’t say that aloud and reassures him he didn’t do anything wrong. She tells him that she thinks it’s more the appeal of living with Bonnie. They pack up the expensive bed that they bought for Abigail’s birthday. Madeline was hoping that Abigail was hurt with how casually she was acting about her leaving, but Abigail just seemed happy to leave. At the end of the chapter, Ed mentions he is going to a book club. Madeline decides that she should start a book club, something that had been alluded...
