Summary

Chapter 19

Jane’s parents invite Madeline and Ed out to the café for lunch. Jane’s mother, Di, goes for a private walk with Madeline on the beach. She reveals that Jane has been very unhappy for the last few years and she feels like Jane is drifting away from her. She’s happy that it seems like Jane at least has a friend in Madeline, but she’s unhappy with the fact that Renata didn’t invite Ziggy to Amabella’s party. Madeline promises Di that she’ll take care of Jane. In the present, one of the interviewees is commenting about how it felt like Madeline had adopted Jane and was overly protective of her.
