Summary

Chapter 7

In Chapter 7, Jane is quick to support Ziggy. She believes that he didn’t hurt Amabella. Renata gets defensive as well and demands that he apologizes. Madeline tries to intervene and calm the situation down, but Renata just snaps at her. Madeline thinks that the two of them had always been rivals, even though she liked Renata. She was starting to believe that Ziggy didn’t do it because of how calm he was, and he was able to look Renata in the eye when he said he didn’t do it. The teacher eventually dismisses the parents, unsure of how she should proceed.

Chapter 8

The chapter starts five months before the trivia night. It is Christmas and Madeline is disappointed that her eldest daughter, Abigail, is spending Christmas with her ex-husband, Nathan, and Bonnie. Abigail seems to prefer her ex-husbands side...
