Summary

Edward continued to grow strong, capable, and intelligent, and one day, he decided that it was time for him to leave Ashland and make a life of his own. On his way out of Ashland, he passed another small town that seemed similar to Ashland in many ways. However, the town was inhabited by strange and hapless people. Edward appeared to be the only outsider in the town. The people of the town were unable to ever leave the town, as it was guarded by a dog that attacked the residents if they ever tried to leave. Many of the townspeople were losing fingers because they were attacked by the dog while trying to escape from the town. The dog, however, did not attack Edward as he passed through. The townspeople tried to force Edward to stay, as his energy and vibrancy comforted them...
