Part 2, Chapters 37, 38, 39, 40 Summary
After the briefing about the suspect in New Jersey, Cross wonders how long Director Burns had known about the suspect and why he had not told him. Cross doesn't feel right about this bust, although he is a little excited about it. Cross is flown by helicopter to the location of the bust. Surveillance shows that Farley is in his house with his girlfriend. Cross thinks the circumstances are strange. The team pushes ahead.
The first team moves on the small home and as soon as they open the door, Cross hears a blast. The place is booby-trapped with explosives. The rest of the agents, including Cross, race for the home. Cross enters to see Farley and his girlfriend lying naked and spread eagle on the floor. The woman isn't Audrey Meek and Farley is a large man. Cross is doubtful...
