Summary
Chapter 8 returns to the present and Irene's marveling at how much has changed in the year since they all decided to get clean. With Luce having run off with the guy in the monster pickup, Irene calls Teena who zooms over to take Irene to the bank to replace her ATM cards and get some cash. She buys a bundle of heroin from Teena, who prepares and injects it for her, and soon Irene is awash in the warm, fuzzy bliss of the drug.Irene buys more drugs from Teena, who teaches Irene how to prepare the shot for herself. Teena gets annoyed with Irene's incessant talk of Luce, and Irene has soon reached her daily limit for ATM withdraws, so she suggests going back to her house to keep using. But instead of taking Irene home, Teena takes Irene to her...
