Summary

In Chapter 9, Helena asks Liz if she wants “a Pop-Tart or something” for breakfast. Liz declines, then asks if Helena wants to come prom dress shopping. Helena is clearly worried that Liz's father prompted the invitation. Liz wants to be honest about it, but says he did not. Helena gushes out her excitement. Liz and Helena have a silly conversation about things that are “to die for.” Helena wants to send Mr. Buxbaum a photo of a “trashy little number that gives him a coronary” (198). They take Helena's black Challenger, which Helena loves. Helena knew Liz went out to meet Wes the previous night, but did not tell Liz's dad.
