Summary
In Chapter 5, Wes piles a lot of clothes into the cart because he knows Liz will not be willing to try on clothes more than once. She is surprised that she likes some of the things he chose. She compares this trip to make-over rom-com movies, “. . . only Wes wasn't the leading man and I wasn't falling for him” (91). Liz is shocked when Jocelyn meets up with her. Liz lied when she said why she could not go shopping for a prom dress with Jocelyn, and she now lies some more. She says she unexpectedly got off work early, that Wes's car broke down, and that she drove him here so he can buy a gift for his mom. Jocelyn accepts the story and says they will shop the following day. Liz is a little unnerved that Wes shows concern for Liz after Jocelyn...
