Dad

Dad Lewis is the husband of Mary and the father of Lorraine and Frank. At the age of 77, Dad has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He has only a few months to live. Dad decides to use his final months by setting his affairs in order, from ensuring Lorraine will take over the family hardware store to ensuring those in his life know how much he loves them to hoping that Frank may return home after their falling out many years before. It was when Frank was eighteen that Dad discovered Frank was gay. This led to Dad smacking Frank in the face. Dad’s wish to reconcile with Frank does not happen. Dad dies by the end of the novel.
