The Pino family store
A normal family business before and during the onset of the war, after bombing the family is forced to relocate. The business continues while Pino and his family members begin covert spying operations under its guise. The physical locations of the store change during the novel but the role it plays in serving as the headquarters of the family remains the same.
The Duomo (Basilica di Santa Maria Nascente)
An important landmark in the city of Milan, and for Pino personally, this is the setting for his first meeting with a Nazi official and also with the cardinal who attempts to preserve as much of Milan as possible.
