Summary
Chapter 3
Denver enjoyed hearing Sethe’s story of when she left Sweet Home. Sethe’s legs and feet were swollen making walking nearly impossible. Her moaning was heard by a white girl walking through the area. The girl, Amy, told Sethe of a shelter to go to rest.
Denver described her vision of seeing a small dress to Sethe. She wanted to know more of what had happened at Sweet Home aside from the beatings and running away while pregnant. Sethe told her about the schoolteacher who ran the farm after Mr. Garner died. The talk went back to the baby in the white dress; they wondered if it was a sign for something to come.
