Chapter Five through Chapter Six Summary

In chapter five, Gypsy confronts her mother about Belle's relationship with Amos that evening, as Love rolls Gypsy's hair. Love admits they didn't understand what they were feeling, and that she hurt Belle pretty badly, as did Amos. Love admits that Belle confined herself to her room, lost weight, cried a lot, and generally kept to herself following the incident. Love also notes that she has thought often of those events, and wishes she could do them over, so she could be kinder to Belle. She recalls when Belle came out of her room, dressed to kill, announcing that she was going to find herself a beau.
