Alice Bradford
Alice lives most of her life in Holland. She and her best friend Dorothy were so close as girls that their mothers worried they were too close. They told one another everything and held nothing back. When they matured, Dorothy revealed herself to be stunningly beautiful while Alice was still plain and rather homely. They still did everything together, though, and when the handsome William Bradford asked to marry Dorothy, Alice was genuinely happy for her friend, though she did harbor secret romantic feelings for William herself. Alice married a man, Edward Southworth, who she felt lukewarm toward. She had several children with him and felt guilty when Dorothy had a miscarriage.
