Summary
Chapter 21 opens with Avery complaining about the press harassing her and her family about their decision to put Grandma Judy in an expensive retirement home. Between the aggravating press and Avery's father's declining health, Avery feels a lot of stress. Her mood lifts when Elliot surprises her and shows up in Aiken, but she feels disappointed that he is only staying for a few hours before catching a connecting flight to Los Angeles. She also feels jealous that he already visited his mother, Bitsy, before coming to see her. Soon, Avery starts telling Elliot about the TCHS, and he tells her to stop digging into the past. They get into an argument, but later apologize to one another. Meanwhile, Bitsy and Honeybee are pressuring them into choosing a date and location for their wedding.
