Day Seven, Epilogue Summary and Analysis
On her final day, Sam wakes with a sense of peace. Her first thought of the day is that today, she will be saying goodbye. Something has happened to her, to make her realize that there will be no February 13 for her: "I guess that's what saying goodbye is always like - like jumping off an edge. The worst part is making the choice to do it. Once you're in the air, there's nothing you can do but let go" (p. 304). Keen readers will interpret this to mean that Sam is making the choice to die, insinuating that she will commit suicide.
