Northville, New York

Northville is a village in the town of Northampton in upper state New York at the foot of the Adirondacks. Wayne and Kelly restore a nineteenth–century farmhouse they had purchased in the town that “was a conservative family town, and that’s what Wayne and Kelly loved about it.” (19). The twins spend the first years of their lives here, and Wyatt already displays his non-conforming gender ways. It is not until 2003, when the children are ready to enter school, does Wayne take a new job at the University of Maine at Orono, and the family prepares to move.
