Chapter 17. The Battle for Porto Vergogna. April 1962. Porto Vergogna, Italy.

As Deane and Burton left, Pasquale’s aunt arrived at the hotel and began screaming a curse at them. Pasquale calms her down. Pasquale then hikes into the hills and finds Dee hiding in the pillbox. They talk for a minute about the young soldier and his beloved in the paintings. Pasquale then walks her back to the hotel and sends her upstairs to rest.

Gualfredo and Pelle arrive. Pasquale goes out to confront him. Gualfredo wants Pasquale to pay him for the money he missed out on while Dee was staying at the Adequate View Hotel. Pasquale refuses. A fight begins. Pasquale struggles, but Alvis joins in. Then one of the fishermen comes with a gun and shoots Pelle in the foot. This ends the fight. Gualfredo backs off, but promises to...
