Summary
In "The Letters," January listens to Sonya explain her relationship with January’s father. They knew each other when they were young and met again years later. They started seeing each other. However, over time Sonya realized she was only a diversion. She had hoped they would be together at one point. Later, she knew that even if January’s mother died, she and January’s father would never be together. Sonya explains how she got the letter she gave January, and January discovers that there are more letters.
After Sonya leaves, January thinks about her life and reads the letter Sonya gave her. It turns out that her father wrote letters to her on her birthday. January also discovers that he owned a boat named after her. She finds the other letters and reads them. In the letters...
