Chapter Thirteen Summary
As chapter thirteen opens, Alberto Falcone is standing over Chief Gordon and Alberto says that he is Holiday. The guard that Alberto shot jumps up from the floor and knocks the gun from his hand. The guard is actually Batman, and he is wearing a bulletproof vest. Knowing Alberto is Holiday, Batman regrets suspecting Dent. Batman strangles Alberto, but Gordon stops him before Alberto dies because they will both regret it. Batman releases Alberto, and Gordon arrests him for killing Maroni.
In Batman's inner monologue, he surmises that Alberto faked his own death and then had to kill the coroner and Carla Viti to keep the secret. Carmine Falcone comes to visit Albert in jail. Batman believes Falcone had to help Alberto commit the murders. Falcone tells Alberto that he can get Alberto released if Alberto will confess to killing Maroni...
