Chapter Nine Summary
Chapter nine opens near Father's Day with Bruce Wayne remembering his father, Thomas Wayne. Thomas Wayne saves Carmine Falcone's life when his father Vincent Falcone brought him to Wayne Manor after being shot by Luigi Maroni, the father of Salvatore Maroni. Thomas Wayne operates on Carmine because Vincent cannot take him to a hospital without Luigi killing him. Bruce Wayne is sitting in a jail cell and realizes that if his father had not saved Carmine's life, he would not be in jail. Wayne goes on trial, and Harvey Dent questions Alfred on the relationship between Bruce Wayne and Carmine Falcone. Alfred testifies that there is no such relationship to his knowledge.
