Summary
In "The Carpenter of Montjuïc," the "first time" Jordi saw "Vic Drago, he was on his own" (143). He saw him outside the building where he and Vic both lived. The next time he saw him, Vic was walking in front of his wife "who was carrying . . . bags loaded with groceries," his attention on his phone (143). Shortly thereafter, Jordi encountered Vic in the elevator. It was morning, but Vic said he had not "been to bed yet" (144). Jordi was surprised, as Vic "wasn't a young man" (144). He then invited Jordi out to a bar.
Vic talked about his former life in London, a city where Jordi "had studied" (145). He told Jordi about the warehouses he owned and his ideal work schedule. Jordi said he was a translator, telling Vic how much he made for assignments. Before parting ways...
