Summary
The next morning, Amy visited the "local police station" to report the mugging" (42). While telling the interviewing officer about "the contents of [her] bag,” she realized she "had lost the thin gold ring Pol had bought [her]" (43). Remembering the feel of the band on her finger and thinking about all that "was over and done with," Amy began crying (44). She apologized to the officer, explaining why she was upset. The officer was patient. When he asked why Amy had been in Sant Andreu, Abdel's neighborhood, Amy answered vaguely. The officer "seemed to realize" she was "hiding something" (44).
At Montse and her husband Jaume's house, Amy told Montse what had happened. Montse was surprised by Amy’s brash sexual encounter. Amy tried explaining the "completely unbelievable" nature of her affair (46).
