Summary
In Chapter 10: The Mountains Fall Into the Heart of the Sea, New York City, 2002-15, Finnegan describes his years in New York City. Using a shortboard that he could take on the subway and through airports, Finnegan became a day surfer. He lived in Manhattan and surfed at nearby spots such as Long Island and the Jersey Shore. When Mollie was little, Finnegan befriended a man named John Selya, who was a professional dancer and who rented a house in nearby Long Beach. Selya was one of the most committed surfers whom Finnegan had ever met, and he even went out in an ice storm off Long Island.
Finnegan's parents returned to New York, mainly because their kids were in the area. Kevin was a labor lawyer in Manhattan, and Michael was a reporter at the Daily News. They were still producing television shows...
