Summary
"Far" takes place in the mid-1990s, when Erawan is not just surviving, but thriving. Japanese tourists have been flocking to Thailand and once they return to Japan, they crave the food they tasted on their vacations. A newspaper features the restaurant in their food section, and soon Nee has to hire and train employees to help cook, wait, and host. Maru has an affair with a waitress and Nok kicks him out of the apartment and changes the locks on the restaurant. After a year, a remorseful Maru comes back and Nok accepts him. At age forty, Nok becomes pregnant. She gives birth to a boy, who she and Maru name Riku.
One day, Nee calls Nok and after that, the two speak on the phone weekly. Nee visits Yokohoma, and she, Nok, Maru and Riku visit Tokyo Disneyland and the...
