Summary

Madge traveled by train back to Tennessee in Chapter 22. She did not know how the sisters would receive her, but they let her in. She found her mother resting mid-day, her eyesight gone. The sisters went through her bag and found her new concoctions, and she shared stories about the city and the new plants it had to offer. At first, the sisters were aloof and untrusting. She reached out by offering her to add her own abilities to their triad, but it was not outright accepted.

Madge helped the sisters with chores and meals at the start of Chapter 23. They fell back into old habits when one sister asked Madge to tell a story.
