Chapter 32-34 Summary
Stocky goes to Santa Monica where he again immersed in the upscale world of power and privilege far beyond his own experience. He counts his money over and over again—twelve dollars. Meanwhile, the scene shifts to Miller's store, where Laura gives Anh-thu a birthday gift—a home pregnancy test—saying "I been there." Then back to Sticky, who is watching people withdraw money from an ATM. He is conflicted while thinking of Dante's conversation, about how Sticky keeps getting bounced from one home to another. But he dreams of playing basketball, which will break this cycle. Then he realizes he really needs money to buy the bracelet for Anh-thu. He robs one of the ATM customers at knife point, stealing $400 from the man, whose briefcase pops open revealing a cache of drugs, indicating he is a drug...
