Chapters 5 and 6 Summary

Sitting in a coffee shop in Derry one morning, it is brought to Mike's attention that he hasn't been on a vacation since before Johanna's death. He decides to spend six weeks in Key Largo and while he is there, airs out his inner self. He comes to some surprising revelations. He realizes that in order to move on, he has to go back to Sara Laughs to write. It isn't until the spring of 1998 before Mike finally goes back to the house at the lake. Before he goes, he calls caretaker Bill Dean to let him know he is coming, and asks him to take a selection of photos of the place 'with warts and all' before he cleans it up in preparation of Mike's visit.
