The Pink Chicken dress is a symbol of entitlement. Even though Lauren hates the Fourth of July, she dresses her children up so she can get cute pictures of them for her social media pages. Amelie wears this expensive Pink Chicken dress that Beth’s daughter ruins when she spills ketchup on it. Lauren is unreasonably angry when she confronts Beth about what happened between the children.

The churros are symbols of shallowness. For the bay picnic, Lauren orders churros from a fancy bakery in New York. She and the other residents of Salcombe are too worried about impressing people with the clothes...
